Tire is the town of Izmir which is situated at a distance of 80 km (50 miles) to the south –east of
Izmir. Tire neighbours are Selçuk at the west, Torbalı at the north-west, Bayindir at the north, Odemis at the east and at the south it is bordered by the districts of Aydin Province. It is known as “Green Tire” and which has got 64 villages .The area is 792 km2 and the population is 788,025 according to 2010 datas.The most of population (42.988)live in the center of Tire town and the others(35.037)live in the villages.Tire is surrounded with the moutain Gume which is 1646 meters high.

Physical features are determined by the alluvial plain of Kucuk Menderes (Little Meandros ) river in its northern part and its south by the mountains delimiting the parallel alluvial valley of Buyuk Menderes
( Big Meandros) river folowing between Aydin and the Aegean Sea.

Advantaged by its fertile soil and suitable climate, Tire district’s econmy largely relies on production and processing of agricultural products, especially figs, cotton, corn and other grains , cash crops like tobacco and sesame, fruits like watermelons , cherries , peaches, and grenadines and dry fruits like walnuts and chestnuts.Tire has one the biggest open air market of the country which is established every Tuesday.A wide range of commodities from local fresh food to authentic cotumes and crafts are sold with comperatively cheaper prices in this market.

Another treasure of the town is its unique cuisine. You may find an incredably wide range of meals made mainly with herbs.Espiciallly meatball (Tire style which is called “Şiş Köfte” )you should try .Another one is sandwich on the barbeque and the other one is lamb kebap or tandır kebab it is called.
